KRI’s initial restoration work on the historic vessel ARIA does not require a permanent waterfront facility to begin operations. The project can realistically launch with a focused operational footprint consisting of 4–8 shipping containers, a temporary 40’ x 80’ Quonset-style enclosed work structure, and leased industrial property with basic power and water access in the Greater New Orleans area.
This phased approach allows KRI to begin meaningful restoration, workforce development, and hands-on training immediately while building operational credibility and long-term partnerships.
KRI ultimately envisions developing a permanent marine restoration and workforce development campus in the New Orleans region. South Louisiana contains many underutilized marine and industrial properties that could potentially be restored to productive use once again.
The long-term vision is not simply to restore vessels, but to restore opportunity, workforce pathways, and productive maritime infrastructure within the Gulf Coast region.
